About Me:

I am an author, nature educator, and blogger. My book, Dandelion Hunter, is coming out this April (2013)!

Through my blog, www.FirstWays.com, and in person, I empower people to use the wild edible and medicinal plants growing in cities. I call this "urban foraging," and it is a powerful way to see ourselves as part of nature and build love and respect for the Earth. A great YouTube video of me talking about urban foraging is at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZA9aUpnmDas

Before I started blogging, I worked as a newspaper reporter in New Jersey and New York. I still occasionally freelance and write for magazines. In summer 2012, I earned an MFA in creative nonfiction writing from Goucher College. Recently, I started on the road to becoming a reiki healer, which I am very excited about!

My Passions:
Wild plants, nature, animals, art, empowerment
My Areas of Expertise:
media relations, social media, blogging, herbal medicine, edible wild plants
