I am in my early twenties and a citizen of the United States. I am a mixed race (African American and Caucasian) female. I am not extremely economically challenged- I have a job and can pay my bills. School has put me in several thousand dollars in debt and I hope to continue my education therefore I will most likely end up over 200,000 in debt by the time that I'm done. Financially, I am the American version of stable, but in categories of love, family, care, compassion and empathy I am a millionare. I am supposed to be very challenged with my lot in life, however I don't know if I just block them out or if I have been guarded from these challenges but I don't see them everywhere like I am told that I am supposed to; when I do see them I like to face them head on and overcome them. I do not give up easily on my goals.
In school I created a Global Health major in order to encompass the way that I see "global health" as encompassing the entire globe- not only developing, but also developed countries and established systems that may be faultering. I am currently working and studying to take my medical school acceptance exams (the MCAT). I plan to go to medical school, earn my medical doctorate and earn my masters or maybe another doctorate in public health policy.
I hope to learn from the amazing women who are associated with this organization and be able to add any of my thoughts to the conversations. My goal is to learn and to make friends and aquaintances; to give a voice to those who have none and to use those voices to help teach those who don't like to listen.
