Leo Christian V. Lauzon
Youth leader and public servant, at the age of 21, Leo Christian V. Lauzon has been an active advocate of many youth-lead organizations working in different social issues that has been serving the grassroots community in the Philippines. He is active in both academic and socio-civic activities that aims to raise the level of awareness of young people and the society as a whole on the issues and concerns that the world is facing today.
Leo has spearheaded numerous youth-lead initiatives such as AIDS Walk and Candle Lighting Ceremonies during World AIDS Day, Adopt A Community Reading Center Project that aims to provide a library to remote communities so that they could start to read and write, and conferences and forums such as the 4th Visayas Universities Debate Championship, 1st Youth Assembly on HIV and AIDS, Mini Millennium Goals Summit, and Climate Change Forum among others.
As a peer educator, Mr. Lauzon has wide exposure on Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health issues and has handled several sessions on ASRH, HIV and AIDS and facilitated trainings for peer educators. He is also a speaker to numerous school and community based gatherings and conferences that aims about motivating young people to stand up, fight for their rights, be empowered, and be involve in policy and decision-making processes in the society.
He is currently an active representative of Brotherhood of Destiny (BROOD), Inc. U.P. Tacloban College Chapter to the Youth Peer Education Network (Y-PEER) - Pilipinas and Assistant Secretary of Youth AIDS Filipinas Alliance (YAFA), a member organization as well of the national network. He is expected to help the UNFPA Y-PEER Pilipinas to make it operational and achieve its goal for the peer education in the country.
Furthermore, he is pursuing his bachelor degree in Social Sciences major in Psychology minor in Political Science which strengthens his skills not only in the field of services but of research and theory. Mr. Lauzon is presently the National Focal Point of the UNICEF Rural Voices of Youth (Philippines), International Journalist for the International Year of the Youth, Chairperson of Youth Against Debt Eastern Visayas, Minister for Membership of UP Tacoban Debate Society, and President of Animal Concerns and Awareness Club.
