I am a 25 years old Caribbean woman who fights to take back my little country of St. Kitts from the world of gang and violence. As a young woman who suffered greatly because of my bad decision of becoming pregnant in high school, I lived with the scars for years. Having a few persons, especially my mother at my side gave me the strength, will and courage to pick up the pieces of my life and move on. It is because of my strong morale and spiritual values which my mother instilled in us which helped me to survive through it all. I have risen from my past and has dedicated my life to give other young people a second chance at life.
After I adopted a street gang in my country, I formed a movement called Save Our Youths At Risk (S.O.Y.A.R) to not only rescue our gangs from the streets but also deter younger children from turning to a life of crime and violence.
We are presently in the process of assisting young women who are teen mothers in creating avenues for them to continue their studies as well as prepare them for the world of mother hood.
