Ifesinachi Sam-Emuwa
A Development Consultant, and the Project Director/Founder of a Nongovernmental Organization “Treasureland Health Builders”. She works selflessly in communities in Nigeria on reproductive health, HIV/AIDS and Malaria.
Her passion for development has also led to pioneering lots of Community Development Projects targeting on Young people and Women Empowerment. She is presently a Consultant for the NYSC, MDGs Advocacy Project (MAP) of the Office of the Presidency (Nigeria) on MDGs and has mentored over 20,000 youth.
In the bid to eradicate extreme poverty, she has contributed to the lives of her community members by empowering them free of charge with information technology (I.C.T.), which includes; Web Designing, Microsoft suite, Networking administration, computer engineering and the use of internet for fast communication, and other information and which has helped in providing employment and scholarships to the community members.
Presently, she has designed a project to develop relevant nongovernmental organizations/rural-based farmers for enhancing a sustainable use of ICTs among subsistence farmers especially women for improved agricultural productivity and poverty alleviation in Nigeria.
She is the president of “Five Star (Awards) Competition”. an innovation of Treasureland Health Builders (For Teenagers) engaging young people between the ages 15 – 19 years old irrespective of their sex, religion, or background that will be stars through a competition that will involve their creativity in writing about sustainable development in their various communities.
She serves as Lagos State Coordinator for Civil Society Consultative Group (CCG) coordinating other NGOs. Serves as a consultant for different developmental projects for effective service delivery.
Her organization was one of the 20 youth organization selected by the British council and the World Bank Institute to work on the project “Debate to Action (DTA)” 2007.
She also run a children’s club called Children In Development (CID) Club in our community, through which she has trained over 3000 children between the ages 5 – 14 years old on personal skill development, human development and value re- orientation, and has also given free formal education to 50 Orphans and Nutrition to 18 families through her organization.
Due to her immense contribution to the developmental work at the grass root level, she has recommendations from both the government and the community members and also she became the only female awardee in the 2008 LEAP Africa and Nokia youth leadership award, amongst other awards to her credit is the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) best Youth Corps member award 2005/2006.
She has authored several books:
Health Guides for Healthy Living (HGHL)
How the youths can bring about development in the community with or without the help of the government.
1001 principles of overcoming Poverty.
Children in Development Tool kit.
The Entrepreneurial Mind.
She personally donated borehole water supply to two communities that have been neglected.
Her overall goal is to help contribute her own quota in eradicating poverty, achieving sustainable development and the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in Nigeria and world respectively.
