I am a girl. No really I am. You'll see me sporting pink and bubblegum and pit-pat ballet shoes. And I am not ready to be a woman yet. Or so I thought.
Until Intl Women's Day 2010. The university where I am hosted a special program for the occasion. At dusk, we all wore pink, lit candles and took the streets for thirty minutes. In that ethereal half hour, the whole street watched as we rejoiced to the pride of being women. They watched as we brought conjured up before them the countless nameless faceless women who drown in the man-made quagmire of injustices.
That is when i felt most deeply my existence on this planet as a woman, as a part of an entity that is unparalleled in the beauty of its strength.
