I am a certified Permaculturalist and Yoga Teacher and I have decided to embark on a quest/pilgrimage/self-financed journey to India! Here is my tentative plan: I will start out as a volunteer planting trees in the temperate Sadhana Forest in Auroville, outside of Pondicherry, in the south of India. From there I will migrate far north to Rishikesh, in the Himalayas, where I will devote time to practicing yoga as a student at Parmarth Niketan ashram, where my yoga teacher studied. Finally, not far from Rishikesh, in Dehradun, I have arranged an internship for myself at Navdanya, a ecological research center founded by Dr. Vandana Shiva, to work on sustainable agriculture and women's land rights.
