I am a Swedish writer and I have just (2012) started my own little publishing company with very little financial means but with a whole lot of passion! I have a very specific vision in mind for the future of my publishing company and my career as a writer. I want the pleasure of expressing one's creativity and/or one's emotions through text not only to be a possibility for a few, but for everyone. The stories that become part of our lives via books we read and that eventually shape us as individuals and as humanity are usually only the stories of people with the means to make their voice heard. This I believe needs to change. Stories should reach us and have the chance to shape our world view from anywhere, independent of the money in the writer's pockets, the language they speak, their level of education, which part of the world they call their home or even if they know how to read and write! My mission right now is to try and come up with a way to publish stories that can make a difference in the world, that can serve a higher purpose than that of only entertaining the reader, and do this by giving the voiceless a voice. And my thought was that the members of PulseWire who come from all over the world and work for different organizations can help me shape my plan into reality by giving me advice on how to best go about collecting stories. Basically, my idea is to visit poor areas in the world (for example a remote village somewhere in need of a school), collect stories from people, create a book to sell and then the profit goes to the writers (in the case of this example to the villagers for them to specifically build a school). Please do not hesitate to contact me with ideas and advice or questions. I will probably be contacting different groups on PulseWire to more actively try and get some advice.
If you want to visit my company site, go to www.wordelation.se. There you can also access a free PDF copy of my very own trilogy Magne's Saga. Guided by the philosophy that words mean nothing without an action that follows them, and inspired by the message of my own story, I have also started a fundraising event in support of the organization Cambodian Children's Painting Project at www.betterplace.org/en/groups/magnephenomenon where you as a reader can donate the money you would have otherwise spent on the purchasing of a book.
