My Name is Banda Nafula Catherine, a Bukusu by tribe from western Kenya and the founder of Women and Development (WODE). I was touched by the frustrations of divorced women and single mothers who were leading a miserable life and decided to act. With a to restore hope and stability among women especially divorcees, single mothers and widows in Kimilili district through capacity building and entrepreneurship to enable them provide for their families. With a vision of having women entrepreneurs who are independent and self-sufficient.
Our main activities include
Training women in tailoring a course for six months after which women are empowered to hire sewing machines and use them as they save money to buy their own machines.
