I attribute my escape from domestic violence fifteen years ago to the support of women who shared similar experiences. Without them, I felt alone, isolated from the world, my family, and my friends. The embrace of those women gave me a safe place in which I could share things that I was terribly ashamed of. So when I discovered this project, I immediately gravitated toward it.
Using technology to connect women from all over world and empower us to speak in our own voices and hear unfiltered/uncensored stories from other women is truly revolutionary. I join you today, sisters of world, affirming the power of our collective voice, of my voice. For each of us who believe that we don't have a story to share, I echo the words of Martha Llano, each of us does have a story and it is worthy of sharing.
Let me and all of the other women here hold a sacred space for each other where we can comfortably and safely exercise our right to speak our own truth.
