Shamsi Kazimbaya

About Me:

My name is Shamsi Kazimbaya. I am Rwandan but born in DRC and came to Rwanda only after the genocide when I was about 20years old. For those who know the history of Rwanda, this is actually a big problem of identification. We are Rwandans but we have our roots in other countries and this become indeed a serous problem in conciling all these cultures, leaving the so called foreigners ones and coping with those so called ours at such an age,...not easy but we are trying and emproving in this way with our political will and comittement.
But on the other hand, this has been an opportunity, for the instance, I can speak more than four languages: French, English, Swahili, Kinyarwanda,...
Today I am married, with one lovely girl Camilla Keza, 16months old. I am working for a Panafrican NGO called SWAA(Society for Women and Aids in Africa) as the Executive Secretary and have been there for now almost 5years. Actually I am very happy working with SWAA because it have been a kind of fulfilling my dream of working for and with women for their better life. At SWAA we mostly provide psychosocial support to HIV+ women and also empower them with income generating activiies. Our main focus is on Women and children.
My vision then is to continue empowering myself more and more so that I will be able to efficently and effectively contribute to women empowerment. I believe that being member of World Pulse and other women's networks is one way. I am also pursuing a Masters Degree in gender and Development, which is another way.

I am committed and I believe that YES, I CAN.

My Passions:
Empowering myself as a women and being able to empower other women. Travelling and meeting people.
My Challenges:
Required academic level to compete on some high level positions
My Vision for the Future:
Working for the UN or any other big International Organization
My Areas of Expertise:
Management, HIV/AIDS, Gender
My Languages:
French, English
