Humaira Habib
I'm Humaira. Born in Kabul Afghanistan in a lovely summer day. From the time that I remember my self, there was war in my country.
I wanted to pass the suppressed voices of Afghan women, who have been victims of a variety of despotism and discriminations ever since they have opened their eyes to this world, on to the ears of the world. That's why now I'm running a women based community radio. It has been five years that I and my famale colleagues work to improve this radio.
Radio Sahar is a fully fledged station with over 13 hours of broadcasting and 15 employees, 10 of who are women. Otherwise its mission is promotion of awareness for women especially on social, political and cultural issues. For this reason, majority of Radio Sahar’s programs is educational. In addition Radio Sahar attempts to attract all local people for greater understanding and self assurance towards their society’s development. Most of Radio Sahar’s listeners are women who listen to the radio while doing their daily chores. Radio Sahar attempt to cater to their needs. Apart from broadcasting educational programs, these include poetry and music.
