Learning to be a hero one heart at a time, as Brownie Girl Scout helping World War 2 veterans for a day out on Lake Geneva to being one of the first women to attend the United States Air Force Academy in 1977 to sourcing currently sustainable streams of funding for charities through internet sales of sunglasses using social network sites as an Affinity Rep for HaberVision.com, I face what next is needed and take the risks to make them a reality. As Founder of Sustainable Homer in Alaska and Curator of TEDxHomer, an independently organized TED-like event highlighting ideas worth spreading, I share fresh solutions to international efforts for wilderness conservation. Balanced with large doses of utter joy skiing in Vail, CO and spiritual grounding, I love leading feminine leaders to living happy heroic lives, facing their local challenges to impact global change. My son, McKenzy, 15, teaches me daily what the young mindset is seeing in the world with my husband, Steve, are avid Alaskan fly fishermen and provide a solid platform from which to live a compassionate life for those separated from the wild side of Earth. I am very proud that McKenzy, for organizing TEDxHomer in Alaska, won Ashoka's Technology 4 Better World and was received a Jefferson Award this past summer.
