Sonia Jackson Myles

About Me:

Sonia Jackson Myles is the author of The Sister Accord, The Promise That Will Transform Your Life!™ which has become a global movement centered on the power of loving, trusting and loyal relationships in transforming every aspect of the lives of girls and women.

She is a summa cum laude graduate of Florida A&M University (FAMU). She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration as well as an MBA with a concentration in Marketing. She was named one of Essence magazine’s 25 Women of Power in 2008, was selected as a History Maker by Bloomberg News in 2009, and was awarded the Trumpet Award Foundation’s Women in High Heels Award in 2010.

A successful corporate executive and thought leader on diversity issues with 20 years of experience, she mentors corporate executives as well as minority and women-owned businesses. Myles is also an advocate for youth and women and has worked diligently for decades to encourage and inspire both groups through mentoring and professional development programs.

In 1995, she developed the F.A.M.S Program at Cody High School, an inner-city public school in Detroit, to give students career opportunities in the automotive industry. The program’s primary focus was to teach critical professional development skills ranging from oral and written communication to resume writing and interviewing. The students also received life skills in workshops such as The Importance of Self-Esteem and The Importance of Integrity which enabled them to effectively compete for scholarships and internship opportunities.

Her passion for service has led her to serve as the chairperson of FAMU’s Sybil C. Mobley School of Business & Industry Advisory Board. Additionally, she serves as a trustee for Impact Young Lives--which helps students in South Africa with furthering their education, as well as Women Helping Women, an organization that assists survivors of domestic abuse, rape and stalking. Sonia was also recently selected to serve on espnW’s Advisory Panel.

As a well-known inspirational speaker, she has spoken at numerous events for women, schools, universities, colleges, and churches throughout the nation. She was also a panelist at the renowned 2010 Essence Music Festival.

Myles is the author of the soon to be published book titled The Sister Accord: 51 Ways to Love Your Sisters and is a wife and mother of two sons, Kendall, 14 and Jordan, 13.
