I am Meghana Bahar, pronounced meh-gāh-na ba-hā, meaning 'cloud' and 'spring of life'/'youth'/'rebirth' respectively in Persian/Arabic/Urdu/Hindi.

I am so happy to be a part of this truly visionary initiative and to be joined by so many truly inspiring and fearless feminine AND masculine warriors.

I am currently engaged as Communications Officer for a wonderful equality- and justice-seeking initiative for both women and men called Musawah. As someone who constantly rejuvenates herself by rediscovering her own femininity and spirituality over and over, the causes that Musawah fight so hard for resonate so much with mine.

We seek the reformation of 'divine' religious codes and laws in order that women and men may live just and equal lives. As someone who is from a Muslim background albeit living in a culturally and ethnically diverse country in the global south, where more often than not the boundaries between religion and culture are perpetually blurred, there have been many moments in my life where I have come crashing against a blind wall, cursing and frustrating over my 'fate' as a woman. Countless of times have I just been numbed into silence remembering the vastness of this universe and being unhappy about how small I am compared to it. But this is what has kept me going. It is the smallest of voices that make the biggest of changes, right?

As Charles Darwin once said,

"It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change."

I truly believe in the power of collective consciousness. I truly believe that we are now living in the most spiritual of times. Spirituality is catching. And wow! Isn't it addictive? I can't wait to breathe again. I won't stop till I've turned on the most courageous and most fearless of women and men to come on board to help, strive for change in religion, in faith and come together as one, be one with the universe and find true happiness.

I am for an enlightened world. That is what I do. Enlighten people. Wake them up. I am for diversity, the borderless, freedom in every sense. I am thirsty for a platform. I think this here is one great opportunity. I believe in you, me, us. Let's do this!
