When people ask me where I'm from I reply, Muskrat Dam but when asked where I live, I reply Sioux Lookout.
My heart is in my home community where I grew up. Where my childhood memories still roam and where I learned my life skills, way of thinking, learning and living. I had to move to an urban town to be with my child who has started her high school career. Usually kids are sent out from our community after they finish grade 8 and are usually left to fend for themselves in one of the most confusing time of their lives.
My children are my hearts.
I'm an Oji-Cree Native woman who is likes to tell it how it is. I like to help bridge the gap between our culture and the so called "mainstream" society's way of thinking and expressing "how it should be". Being Native and living in a White world can be very trying but it also opens my mind and my heart too. I am constantly reminding myself that other people and cultures have their own way of thinking, processing information and the way they view the world through their eyes and I must respect that.
I usually use a little, itty, bitty website to express myself, my views, opinions or just plain ol'bs..lol
I love to laugh! it helps heal my soul and bring warmth to those that surround me.
