About Me:

You've found Jackie- a sassy red-headed wife and Mommie with a passion for life. What makes me happy? The deep, contented sighs that come after I type on my Mac's keyboard for a few hours. Yep. I'm a writer. And I'm devoted to saving the deep south from itself. I use literature to cure the ailments of southern society. I'm passionate about helping my community to overcome racism, poverty and a failing educational system. But that's certainly not the only issues that make me lose sleep at night. I am passionate about saving my culture from itself. I believe that historic preservation is extremely important, particularly in the rural southern United States. By clearing away the corner of main to main, we are making room for progress. But there is also a terrible trade-off for the flat-faced, concrete structures that promise prosperity in our small towns. By selling our history for pennies on the dollar, we are inviting corporate America into our economy. But we're also slamming the door shut on our heritage.

My viewpoint journalism is unique. I tend to focus more on the JOURNAL in the word, and less on the ISM. By infusing emotion, the voice of reason, and a love for all things historic, I have taken steps to make my community appreciate a form of journalism that boycotts negative headlines. As co-owner of The Minute Magazine, a publication in Louisiana that focuses on never wasting a single minute of life, I am making a difference. And I encourage you to do the same.

My Passions:
Writing, Writing, Writing. Photography, historic preservation, and Autistic Spectrum Disorders.
My Challenges:
As a young mother, wife and business owner, extra time is difficult to find.
My Vision for the Future:
Use literature and journalism to expose the Memes in southern society.
My Areas of Expertise:
Literature; I'm currently editing my first novel, and hope to find representation soon.
