My name is Osnat. I live in Israel in the upper Galilee, and have been working for Sindyanna of Galilee for the past six months.
I joined Sindyanna in order to establish Sindyanna's new Visitor Center, as we did in Feb' 2010.
The core of this Visitor Center is a group of Arab women from the village of Kufr-Manda (near Nazareth), who learn how to weave baskets with date wands.
They learn this craft from their teachers - Ronit Pan, a Jewish woman from a nearby village, and from Wahiba Hughirat, a talented weaver from Kufr-Manda.
The Basketry project is one out of a few social projects Sindyanna of Galilee holds, in order to support and empower Arab women by means of economical opportunities.
Recently, we opened a joint basketry course for Jewish and Arab women. This course is a big success.
We believe and aim for a constructive dialogue, which is taking place through the craft of basketry and other projects, such as OASIS project, regarding organic olive oil, of which I will tell you next time.
