About Me:

I am a nonprofit communications and programs professional, focusing on international rural development. I have been working for the past three years for the nonprofit READ (Rural Education and Development) Global in rural communities in South Asia. Previously, I spent two years as a Peace Corps volunteer on the edges of the Sahel, in Dogon country, Mali, West Africa. During Peace Corps I worked as a natural resource management and communications extension agent, trying to improve food security and health in my area by sharing knowledge about sustainable agriculture and maternal health and nutrition. I have also worked with the organizations Global Exchange and Mercy Corps, and did a stint at a permaculture community in Oregon called Aprovecho.

I consider myself to be a human rights, sustainable development, fair trade and local foods activist and advocate. I grew up in the foothills of Denver, Colorado, and went on to receive a B.A. in International Affairs and French from Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon, where I fell in love with the West Coast. I have also lived, worked and studied in France, Senegal and Mali.

My Passions:
sustainable agriculture, human rights, the fight to end global hunger and poverty, walking the world
My Challenges:
confronting injustice and inequality, the global market, and complacency and apathy
My Vision for the Future:
solidarity and compassion that transverses political boundaries and leads us to become true stewards of this earth, and of our brothers and sisters everywhere
My Areas of Expertise:
International Affairs, French, Sustainable Agriculture, International Political Economy, Permaculture
My Languages:
English, French, Dogulusso
