I am a female Kenyan citizen who is currently pursuing a Masters degree in Communication Studies. I developed passion for writing at a tender age. I would witness a number of things affecting Africa as a continent especially her women and children and wondered how I could get out this information for necessary plan of action. I needed some channel to air it to the concerned parties.
I joined the media industry (Kenya News Agency) as a News Reporter in the mid 2006 as I was awaiting my graduation. Immediately after graduating, I joined editorial desk of the mainstream media (Times News Services - Publisher of both Kenya and Sunday Times newspapers) where I worked as a Sub-Editor/Writer. I have also worked for Netherlands based Africa News as a reporter and served as an Editor of African Executive Magazine. I am currently working for Africa Review (Nation Media Group's digital magazine) as an editor/writer.
I am passionate about issues that are pertinent to Africa like women affairs, health, governance and democracy, human rights and development.
I am a member of Association of Media Women in Kenya (AMWIK), Media Advocates for Children, Kenya Journalist Association (KEJA) and Kenya Union of Journalists.
I believe that as a journalist, I can reposition Africa through setting an agenda for positive action. I am also a poet.
