About Me:

I teach in the Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies Department at Portland State University in Portland, OR. I teach classes about north American girls and popular culture, and the history of American popular music with special critical attention to race and gender. I have volunteered with the Rock 'n' Roll Camp for Girls in Portland for ten years, and in August 2013 I will travel to Bahrain to teach a music camp for girls. I am very interested in learning more about musical cultures of girls and women from around the Persian Gulf.

My Passions:
Teaching, learning and listening to new ideas
My Challenges:
Not enough time to do all the things I want to!
My Vision for the Future:
A world where girls are safe to learn and express themselves creatively
My Areas of Expertise:
music and gender, histories of American girlhood
My Languages:
English, French
