About Me:

I am a journalist with over 25 years of experience as a Senior Editor, Feature writer and Photo journalist and I have worked in three mainstream newspapers in Sri Lanka. I am a graduate of the University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka and I have a postgraduate degree in International Relations. My dissertation was "Challenges in implementing International Conventions in Sri Lanka" with special emphasis on women's rights in Sri Lanka as a multi ethnic, multi cultural and multi religious country. My research area is on women's rights. I have recently presented a paper on "Domestic violence in Sri Lanka" for an international conference held in Key West, Miami, Florida, USA. I like to work with battered women all over the world and help them within my capacity using the experience I have gained as a journalist having associated a wide section of the society.

My Passions:
To help battered and marginalized women
My Challenges:
Working in a patriarchal society
My Vision for the Future:
Women should have equal rights as men
My Areas of Expertise:
Women's rights - Domestic violence
