Had it not fallen on a Sunday, it would certainly have been a very normal working day. But the Kenyan woman must toil to feed herself and her child, to clothe herself and her child, to live.
I perhaps belong to the luckier quantile of Kenyan women, given that i have an education and a job with a Development Agency. I am privileged to have seen the doors of a University at the State's expense. That remains a piped dream for many who fall out on the wayside due to pregnancy, female genital mutilation (FGM) leading to early marriage or simple archaic practices, where fathers do not invest in school fees for their daughters.
I also have the advantage of having travelled a little and working in a multi-cultural environment where tolerance, reliability and discipline (especially of time management) are core.
Right now, my unresolved resolution is to register for a PhD in Women, Human Rights, Culture or somewhere in that direction. So help me God.
