Since December 2006, I have been a nomadic volunteer: no home, no car. Traveling by bicycle or public transportation and the occasional borrowed car, doing volunteer work. I focus on the poorest of the poor in the world, and the people in my life at the moment. I have kept a blog of my travels and volunteer work, www.diane-emerson.blogspot.com, and have recently created a website to share information on my favorite charities and inspirational quotes I have collected in my travels.
I am currently in Portland, Oregon. I will be here for several months, focusing my volunteer efforts on several areas: getting the money out of politics and the Occupy Movement, encouraging the planting of nut trees in cities, volunteering to strengthen and start new time banks, and learning and teaching (for free) Nonviolent Communication. I joined this forum because of what I have read here.
