About Me:

Originally from South India, I have lived in a few different countries and continents over the years. I love meeting people from various cultures, communities and listening to their voices. Over the past decade, I have worked in the realm of outreach, marketing and communications with various organizations including the End Human Trafficking Now! campaign and the Suzanne Mubarak Women's International Peace Movement, World Pulse Media (as Global Editor of World Pulse Magazine, Global Outreach Director for PulseWire), Web Community Resource Networks, the Food Bank For New York City, Canadian Business for Social Responsibility among others. I have also been involved with groups such as the Global Partnership to Prevent Armed Conflict (GPPAC), US Fund for Unicef and the African Studies Center at Boston University among others. I am currently based in Toronto and am on the National Board of the Canadian Voice of Women for Peace. My education is in marketing and communications and an MA in International Relations from Boston University.

As a freelance journalist, I have had the opportunity to meet and interview various women leaders around the world including Marianne Pearl, Fatima Bhutto, Mukhtar Mai, Loung Ung, Shirin Ebadi, the 13 indigenous grandmothers and various others.

I am on currently involved with World Pulse as Consulting Editor and writer with World Pulse Magazine. Feel free to write to me with your stories, perspectives or just to connect. The best way to reach me is on my email: ramya [at] worldpulse.com

Above all, I am a believer in all of us in the world needing to have a voice -- and the importance of harnessing the power of media, technology and communications to provide that platform to make connections -- whether we are from India or Burkina Faso, whether we are male or female, whether we speak english or not, whether we are from the global north or south. My fond hope is that PulseWire's interactive web platform will go some way in providing that space for YOU to have that voice and create room for dialogue.
