Deqa Osman
I am a Somali citizen, born and raised in Somalia.
I consider myself to be one of the lucky ones that got access to education in the midst of chaos, destruction, and war.
I am global minded individual and very dedicated for Global Development.
Friendly, cheerful and passionate about Education for Development programs.
I am a part-time lecturer of computer science at a local university, and I also work with Danish Refugee Council as an IT/Admin Officer.
I am involved in projects that are intended to educate and transform my community, most importantly, Peace Education for the Somali youth and mentoring for school girls are my top priority right now.
Peace Education is quite important for the post-war generations who grew up in a hostile and violent environment and adding peace and conflict resolution studies to the school curriculum is crucial for their transformation.
Mentoring is also close to heart because it's one of the obstacles to acquiring proper education for Somali girls. I believe with mentoring we can definitely achieve equality in education.
