I'm an interdisciplinary researcher, published writer, and educator. Currently enrolled in the Master of Science in Information at the University of Michigan, my specalizations are Social Computing and Archives & Records management.
The definition I aspire to is Barbara Smith's:
“Feminism is the political theory and practice that struggles to free all women: women of color, working-class women, poor women, disabled women, Jewish women, lesbians, old women–as well as white, economically privileged heterosexual women. Anything less than this vision of total freedom is not feminism, but merely female self-aggrandizement.” (from “Racism and Women’s Studies,” 1979)
I've listed my books on black feminism and black women's activism, not for folks to buy, but because I wrote and edited them so that other black women and girls will know that we have a long history in gender, race, class and sexuality studies. As Anonymous says, WE ARE LEGION.
