I am Umaiyal Umakanthan, a passionate Sri Lankan, studying at Asian University for Women, Bangladesh. When I was back at home, I did not have a clear idea about gender, gender based violence and/or sexism. In university, after taking courses, such as Gender in Asia, Psychology of Gender, Cultural Psychology, Gender Peace and Conflict, and Migration, I have realized the value of being women and hardships women experience each and every day in all corners of the world. Thus, to create awareness, share my knowledge, and to create close tie with women all around the world, I have joined World Pulse.
