Danielle Prince
I am passionate about women’s rights around the world. From the United States, I have cumulatively spent 8 years living, working and volunteering abroad. Since 2005 I hold an MA in International Development Studies from the University of Amsterdam, focusing on Sub-Saharan women’s migration experiences in a human rights framework. In 2011 I completed a year-long certification in psychological trauma in order to deepen my understanding of trauma victims’ experiences of violence. I have worked several years in the field of women’s rights, micro-finance and most recently, domestic violence. I have spent the last 4 years with Eastside Domestic Violence Program in the Seattle area where I currently work as program manager. I also volunteer with Stirring the Fire, a global project focused on gender equality. Previously, I have volunteered in Germany, Ghana, India, and New York in different roles with the same purpose: to work toward my global sisters’ equality. Most recently I was in Cambodia helping document stories from acid burn survivors and survivors of domestic violence. In 2010 I traveled to South Sudan as a volunteer with the Valentino Achek Deng Foundation. There I worked for 6 weeks with women and girls in the rural community of Marial Bai. I blog regularly on Go Girl Magazine and has also written for Gender Across Borders and Peace X Peace.
