About Me:

HI! I'm Zory. The most basic thing about me is that I am work in progress, I still have a lot to learn and I ask a lot of questions, though I haven't really asked these questions out loud. The reason so many times I keep my questions quite is because of my great fear of sounding ignorant. The most important question I have always had is: What issues are women still facing today? WHY aren't these issues solved yet? And what can I do to help? I have always been a feminist, but until rather recently I was not very vocal about it, mostly because I didn't know I should be. There really wasn't much behind my feminism, I just was (my mother and grandmothers are the reason really), I knew as a woman that I was strong, brilliant and that I should be able to choose what I wanted and expected from my life without judgement. It wasn't until about 3 years ago (freshman year) that I really started reading, I became eager to learn about our social issues. However this was also when I realized how much still needs to be done, since my University does not have a formal Gender Studies program, I turned to the next best thing I am a sociology major. So I haven't really been formally educated in women's issues, but thanks to the internet and wonderful resources like: Equality Now, Feministing.com, National Latina Institute for Reproductive Health, and so many more I have been able to form educated opinions, arguments and slowly speaking up more. Now that I am working on the learning and reading aspect of helping toward social change, becoming aware that there is still a problem, I am extremely motivated to find a way I can put it all in ACTION...still working on it. ;)
