New Report on Women's Participation in Peace and Security in DRC
This report is called Women’s Leadership and Participation in the Peace, Security and Cooperation Framework for the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Great Lakes Region: Achievements, Challenges, and Opportunities
From the email I received about it:
"The report, which is based on extensive interviews with international leaders and Congolese civil society over the course of several months and a review of primary documents, maps the achievements, challenges, and opportunities that exist for women's participation and leadership in the unfolding peace process at the national and regional levels in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and larger Great Lakes region of Africa.
The report was launched earlier this month at an international conference hosted at the National University of Ireland in Galway and organized by Dr.Niamh Reilly on women's leadership in peacemaking in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and The Great Lakes region of Africa. The conference was jointly led by Mary Robinson (then-UN Special Envoy of the Secretary General and former president of Ireland), Bineta Diop (African Union Special Envoy for Women, Peace and Security) and Melanne Verveer (GIWPS Executive Director). The report will be professionally translated into French and distributed to stakeholders in the peace process in the DRC/region soon."
