Online Video Report: Ethiopia - From RISK to ACTION: Women and HIV/AIDS in Ethiopia (40 mins)

Ethiopia - From RISK to ACTION: Women and HIV/AIDS in Ethiopia. Nearly 60% of HIV infected individuals in Ethiopia are women. Gender bias and the biology of transmission make women more vulnerable to infection. Poverty, lack of access to education, and violence against women increase their risk. This film profiles the connection between gender and HIV/AIDS, as well as the work of leaders in education and policy change to improve the status of women. Director: Dorothy Fadiman Producer: Dorothy Fadiman, Amy Hill Production Company: Concentric Media Audio/Visual - Aug 24, 2006 release (39:19 min film)

Comments

Thank you Maria for bringing attention to the struggles women in Ethiopia (and women across the globe) have as they deal with their own disease and society's attitudes to HIV/AIDS. The discrimination so many women face, along with the everyday struggle in suffering from this disease, makes matters that much worse.

We must help to lift this attitude (of discrimination) in any way we can.
