A Poem for Hope

Vatican priests stating that ordaining women is as bad as priests' pedophilia.

I am a poet and wrote this poem recently. It fits the purpose of suggestions for change, so I post it here. I am also an artist and post my recent painting depicting the Vatican priests who stated in July that ordaining women is as bad as their priests' pedophilia.

For the World

Bring the world’s women
into this century, the 21st,

and one might see some years
of quiet, cooperation, sharing.

May I share a truth: women’s flow
of berry blood does not make

them lowly, unacceptable.
Believe it. Here’s another truth:

women will blaze the earth with peace
when so many childhoods

are not sold or kidnapped,
then used by men, a murderous

theft of their innocent bodies,
minds, their sweetest treasures.

And the world will be light in weight
whizzing across the cosmos

when women are ordained
as priests, serving their own love

to the Church of Life.

Master Student!

Dear Sarvina,
I am so glad to learn that you can spend your life and time working to "help and empower women and girls". This is vital for world peace and progress. Here in the U.S. we still work for equal opportunities for women, yet we have so many more than other nations - in education and in jobs, as well as respect from males. But we are not perfect in this. There are many failures and a lot of progress yet to be made. I believe getting every little girl into school and allowing her to finish lower grades, upper grades and college is key to women themselves, realizing their potential. My best wishes and blessing to you in your efforts! Contact me any time.

Using volunteers

Sarvina, I worked as a Manager of Volunteers for 15 years. This involves recruiting, screening, placing, supervising, and many other aspects of utilizing volunteers to help your organzation's mission. I could give you consultation in volunteer management for your NGO if you think you need that.

regarding email

Hello Sarvina, I would prefer to use this PulseWire for our communication. Can you tell me why you prefer email? I will be happy to answer your questions. we can start by your describing your organization: What are the goals of this organization? How many people work there? Do they have an office? What are the projects of this organization? What kind of help do you need?

WorldCare's picture

Using volunteers?

Hello Sarvina,
I haven't talked with you for a long time. Are you still active with your project and with WorldPulse? If you are interested in consultancy in Volunteer Management, please describe your organization, so that I can determine how to advise you. I can give you fresh ideas as to how to get more people to help in your project if I have a better understanding of the project, how many people are working there, what you are hoping to accomplish, and what the goals are. I hope you are well and busy. Please respond if you have time. Thank you, WorldCare

Ordain women priests!

Thank you for participating in this campaign, by using your voice, poetry and paintings to speak out against gender-based violence, and to call for a future that is inclusive of gender equality. Your poem is beautiful, and I look forward to reading more of your prose in the PulseWire community.

In two weeks, we will compile your letters, and in your case, your poem, and share your voices with the GEAR Campaign, who have been working closely with UN Women to ensure the inclusion of civil society groups, and through the PulseWire community, grassroots women leaders, as they set their agenda. We will also be sending your letters directly to Michele Bachelet and other senior leaders of the newly formed UN agency, to demonstrate the effectiveness for sourcing opinion, knowledge and needs from the global grassroots women's movement through our online community. Through this, we hope to open a portal for our community to have a direct line of influence within the UN Women agency.

I will keep you updated on the progress of our campaign!

In friendship and solidarity,
Jade

Also Volunteer Mgt.

Thank you Jade Frank. I am glad to be a part of this communication. I have now added to my profile that I spent 15 years as a manager of volunteer services in a large healthcare facility. I went to many national trainings, as well as local, in this field. I could consult with women here, if anyone wishes to better utilize local volunteers in their efforts. You can keep this in mind and refer them to me. It is one concrete way for me to give assistance. My best to you in your vital endeavors for World Pulse!

Keywords for women

One of my thoughts is that leaders could make use of phrases, quotes or keywords, spoken by women in the past. I intend to send some of these poetry quotes to one woman in India, words by Mirabai, the early independent poet and dreamer. We need dreams, goals, and truths to reach for. I think a campaign could be developed within certain movements, using keywords of women leaders. Just as auto manufacturers and beverage companies use brief keywords to sell their products, we can use brief keywords as a call to action for women's growth and rights. Let's think more about this!

Roman Catholic Womenpriests

Jade, I want you and WorldPulse to be aware that there IS an organization of ordained Catholic priests, women who have been "making waves" and making headway in this area. The name: Roman Catholic Womenpriests. They have a website FYI. These are groundbreaking women, breaking into a male dominated, worldwide and powerful oppressive organization. There are just over 100 of them, so, a mighty but small group thus far. I commend them for their progressive thinking and work. I believe one of the most recently ordained is in Oregon.

jadefrank's picture

Fantastic!

Wow, that is exciting news! Thank you for sharing information about the Roman Catholic Womenpriests, I will be sure to pass this information along to our Editorial Manager who is currently working on stories for the upcoming edition of World Pulse magazine, Spirit, which will include stories of women and religion.

Best,
Jade

Meditation

Hello again Jade, I want to add another "spiritual" source that women are using these days, and that is meditation and contemplative prayer. I will refer you to a center in Kentucky which is a full time meditation center. This is Looseleaf Hollow in Bardstown, KY. You can find the website. I attended my first session a few years ago under Joe's direction, held off-site, closer to where I live. He is devoted to this practice and guidance. I think you would find in communicating with him that 80-90% (or higher) of participants are women. Joe and his wife purposely moved to this location a number of years back so that he could develop and devote himself to aiding others in this practice. Talking with him might provide some good material for your next issue on spirituality.

Your First Poem!!!

Dear Malaya, I am delighted to read your first poem. YES, you did a beautiful job. You have every writing talent needed to write poetry. I think you could name it, and a good name would be "Nature's Nest". I like that phrase so much! I will paste it here and further comment:

Watching beauty in the silver and blue colored seas (could remove "coloerd")
My heart connects to the deepness of my soul
Searching for my rhythm in the midst of nature’s nest

As the wind touches my face
I can feel the laughter of yesterday’s memories (could remove "the")
The happiness of friendship and love
That brought harmony in our journey for life

As we go along in this path for freedom
Contradictions always comes with imperfections (correct English: "come")
And finding balance keep us more closer (use: "keeps"; can omit "more")
In fighting for tomorrow’s promises

Love, peace, freedom and justice! (For your first poem, I think this is a strong and important message, but in future, you can let the poem itself say this; you don't need to list it at end. Let the subtlety of the poem tell your message.)

CONGRATULATIONS on your first wonderful effort here!!! Please continue to WRITE!!! You have it in you! - - WorldCare in US

Your Magic!

I am happy to communicate with you, Malaya. Yes, your writing is from your wonderful mind and heart, so it IS Magic - your own magic! I had knee surgery recently and had to see doctor this morning, and I am doing a little preparation for Easter, but I will read your journals soon.

Family Day

Hi! Ohh! I'm sorry to hear about your knees. I hope you're fine as we will celebrate Easter Sunday! It's Holy Friday here in the Philippines. I find this day being with my family, stay together at home . I am very busy on our campaign against oil price hikes. Since January this year the oil companies - increased the oil prices twelve times and its hitting hard to us . I am preparing for the big demonstaration on May 1st International Labor Day as well as the looming transport strikes of the transport sector here in our place right after May1.

S0, its a big 3 day protest actions!

Thank you for being a friend to me!

Friends Across the Seas

Thank you for you good wishes. Just ONE knee had surgery, thank goodness. I admire your involvement in the oil price increases, and coming demonstrations. We are disturbed by them too, and I read that the US Justice Dept. is going to investigate for fraud, etc. One of my sons drove here from his home in Michigan yesterday, so that we can have a family Easter dinner at their father's. I am glad to have 2 sons. I wish you Easter blessings, and a good weekend.
