Visiting International Students Academy (VISA)
Since the Rio Declaration in 1992 governments, companies, higer eudcation institutes and many other organisations have started to realise that a shift towards a sustainable society is possible only if sustainable development is incorporated as a serious issue into the curricula of many higher education institution. After all today's students are tomorrows managers, researchers, technicians, policy makers etc.
Sustainable Development is often define as "development that meets the needs of the present generation without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. Sustainable Development encompases a balance between ecological and social aspects in a global issue, crossing borders of countries and continents in order to be able to work on the complex concept of sustainable development, intercultural exchange and interdisciplinary cooperation is necessary and needed. Students must learn to from other cultures, open their minds to view from otther disciplines or sectors and think about other methods.
The Visiting International Students Academy (VISA) is a gap year, cultural exchange program for students from across the world on global sustainabledevelopment issues. The program has been initiated to give students the chance to work together with students from other cultures inorder to become the open minded, knowledgeble, all-rounded and creative global citizen the society and the world as awhole needs.
