African Artists' Community Development Project (AACDP)
We are a small non profit that buys crafts from African artisans, sells the crafts in the US, and sends the profits back to grass roots aid organizations in the same locality as the artists.
Specifically we have two programs:
One that sells the wares of a women's arts cooperative in Lusaka and returns the profits to the Upeme Hope Children's center, a small orphanage outside of Lusaka, Zambia.
The other sells crafts from Mukuni Village artists to raise money for the Mama Bakhita Cheshire Home for the Disabled in Livingstone, Zambia.

Waging Peace in Zambia
My 17 year old daughter and I traveled to Zambia last May with a borrowed video camera to film the artsits and the organizations we are funding. "Waging Peace in Zambia" is the resulting 20 minute documentary. I hope to put part of it on youtube soon.
I need help figuring out better ways of getting the crafts from Africa to the US. Also, I could use some ideas for documenting proper use of the funds we send to Zambia. Our agency is small, so I personally know and trust those who run the Zambian programs and make yearly visits as well. But if I succeed in making this effort a practical one to reproduce, I will need careful documenting of use of funds.
I have never studied business and am learning as I go.
May we all wage peace together.
Such fascinating work, I am
Such fascinating work, I am so excited to see your documentary. Please do let us know when it is available for viewing.
May I suggest that you post your request for business help over in ResourceExChange as a need? It will get more visibility there, and hopefully the community will be able to come together to support you in this endeavor!
