For women who feel compelled to fight for injustice in wars, there are other alternatives to fighting than killing your enemies. In Winifred case, that alternative involved utilizing her nurturing skills to assist the warriors, and displaced women and children of the conflict that continues to wage in Uganda.
For three years, she was apart of the Uganda People’s Army, but she never carried a gun. She worked in the welfare department utilizing alternative medicine to heal war victims and to deliver babies, through the clinic she founded. Not only was she a healer, but she also was able to save many innocent women and children from the being victimized by teaching morality to soldiers. Her goal in utilizing the bible was to keep them from the temptation of rapping and looting.
Despite the ugly face of war, Winifred was able to establish a best practice solution, by participating as an active advocate to save many women and children from becoming victims of war, through her service, compassion and activism. Use, the Koran, and any other text or book to convict, inspire and moralize warriors of conflict and war.
