The Storytelling House
The Storytelling House is a place to gather and hear (in this case read) stories. A place that stories can be shared from all over the world. If you wish to use a story you hear at the Storytelling House, please ask the teller of the tale if you can borrow it. The story might be a family one, it might be close to their heart, and permission honours the tale and the teller.
Please choose carefully what you post as a story. There are many places to blog online and on pulsewire, where journaling, blogging and personal revelations are appropriate. There are many places to tell of political incidents and personal strifes, but the purpose for THE STORYTELLING HOUSE is to listen to stories that inspire us. I will be posting traditional stories and wisdom tales, wise words from ages past that still hold much truth for us to learn from. Traditional stories are very different from literary narratives in their structure and flow. They are easy to read and digest, and tend to sit in the soul for a long time. I would recommend posting these traditional/oral style stories here.
Come and post stories, read the other posts, respond to the stories you like, perhaps write about the version of the story you know, for we all come from a history of stories and tales told by candlelight, over the fire, out under the stars, nestled up with a loved one, or taught in school and church. Our stories unify us, they show us that we are all the same, dealing with the same tribulations and the same trials. Stories allow us to understand that all humans face the same trials of the spirit the world over; greed, dishonesty, vanity, rage, villainy, gluttony. Stories provide places for the human spirit to work out the answer and to learn.
Above all stories are great fun (great craic as we say in my country), they soothe the spirit and the mind, they allow the body to relax and they encourage a sense of wonder in us.
So come and listen, come and tell, above all come to the Storytelling House to lighten your load, and leave with a tale or two in your bag to keep you company along your road.
