Girls’ Action and Information Network (GAIN)—Global Fund for Women/Nike Foundation Cohort

The Global Fund for Women, through generous support from the Nike Foundation, seeks to support and bring together a core group of organizations from all over the world that are implementing adolescent girl programs. Through networking and information sharing over a 2-3 year period, we aim to create an environment where challenges, best practices, strategies, and needs are better understood, ultimately leading to strengthened collective efforts to empower and serve adolescent girls.

Objectives of GAIN on PulseWire:

1) Provide an online forum where a core group of Global Fund grantees working on adolescent girls programs can share experiences and build their capacity through peer to peer information exchange. We hope all of you will use this online space to share challenges and successes with one another, ask for and provide advice from other groups, and strategize together on areas of common interest.
2) Pilot a new way for the Global Fund to communicate with a core group of grantees funded through one particular initiative/donor. We anticipate sharing reporting information, asking/answering questions related to this grant, and obtaining a better understanding of the work you do, what additional needs you have, and how the Global Fund might help address these needs.
3) This is the first time the Global Fund is bringing together a group of grantees under a particular initiative in this way. We hope this pilot project will help us better understand the value and potential of online platforms, and the role they might play in helping groups carry out their work.

Discussion Guidelines

Step 1: Post Questions

The Global Fund will post a new topic every month to the Group Journal. Look out for these journals to see the latest discussion topic and instructions on how to participate.

We will also ask each of you to post one or two questions per year on any topic of your choosing for which you would like the group’s input or advice. Each of you will have a specific month where you will be asked to post a question. In addition, you can post a question or share information on the platform at any time.

Step 2: Read and Respond!

When you create your profile, click on the “e-mail alert” box to receive email notifications when something new has been posted to the site. To respond to a discussion question, click on the "Contribute" tab of the group page and use the form to submit your response and join the conversation. Be sure to follow the tagging and title directions, as indicated in the Discussion Question journal.

Step 3: Share and Read Journals

To fully participate in this group collaboration, we encourage you to read fellow group members' journals, and offer comments to support their ideas, offer alternative thinking, or take the conversation in a new direction. Click “Submit” and your journal will be posted to the group and included in the discussion. We also encourage you to upload any relevant pictures or documents to your journal to further express yourself.

Remember: the type of information you provide and the amount you share on this forum will in no way negatively impact your future funding from the Global Fund. This is first and foremost a resource for all of our grantees in this cohort to use in whatever ways are most beneficial. We encourage everyone to be honest, open and active participants on this site, and to share your feedback on this forum with us at any time!
