2010 Voices of Our Future Correspondents
The 2010 program has closed. If you are a Correspondent, please join our alumni group, Voices of Our Future Correspondents Network. For more information, please contact email@example.com.
Begin the Journey. Step into the circle and join hands with 30 women from around the globe!
Welcome 2010 Voices of Our Future Correspondents! Over the course of the next five months, we hope the skills and knowledge you learn will help hone your strong voices and empowered leadership. You are brave, you are beautiful and you are the voices of our future.
This group will serve as your space for asking questions and sharing your experiences as you walk through the program together. The online classroom will serve as your text book, and your personal PulseWire journal will be your pen and paper. With these tools at your fingertips, we know you will create electric sparks that will be felt from Zimbabwe to Bolivia!
As part of this program, you will receive training in citizen journalism and Web 2.0. You will also be paired one on one with an Empowerment Mentor and an Editorial Midwife. These professional and passionate women are here to support your personal and professional goals, help you overcome obstacles you may face in completing the program, and help you hone your unique voice.
But How Does it Work?
The training program includes 4 learning modules, covering topics including: basic journalistic principals; the world pulse editorial voice; how to conduct research and interviews; how to write an op-ed feature story and frontline journal; and social media tools. Also, Amy Lombardo from True Nature Wellness is making six, short, wellness videos for self-care available to you throughout the training.
For each module, there will be a set of learning materials and a writing assignment. We will also conduct a conference Question and Answer call approximately one week after the start of each module. These calls are not required, but we do suggest you attend if you can, as it will give you a chance to connect with other Correspondents and our staff and clear up any questions you may have about the learning materials.
How Much Time Will This Take?
Between November 1, 2010 and March 31, 2011, we estimate it will take you between 5-7 hours per month to complete the reading materials and your assignment, and to communicate with your Empowerment Mentor and Editorial Midwife.
