World AIDS Orphans
This is a group to find solutions for AIDS Orphans. Anywhere. Everywhere. Join the conversation. This is a group for AIDS Orphans. Anywhere. Everywhere.
In this group, our fervent hope is that conversations WILL be ignited; ideas WILL be exchanged; solutions WILL be offered, expanded, improved and shared among allies. All for AIDS orphans who need us, all of us.
According to FXB International's website, 15 Million children have lost one or more parent to AIDS. FIFTEEN MILLION. It stops me in my tracks. That is unspeakable suffering at the hands of a disease that should be (could be?) stopped in its tracks.
I was inspired to create this group after hearing Stephen Lewis speak in honor of World AIDS Orphan Day at First Unitarian Church in Portland, Oregon, USA. I asked Leila to co-moderate it with me because of her work on the ground in Kenya. At only 12-years, Leila is a powerhouse of ideas and wisdom.
We open this cherished space for all the courageous leaders - women, men and children, who are on the front lines fighting this pandemic. And we open this cherished space for all the people like us, who are building systems to support this work- and ultimately to benefit humanity, especially its children. And finally, we open this cherished space to everyone else, who may be doing neither, but are supporting us and cheering us on.
In sisterhood,
Leila and Jennifer
