Need: Effective Social Change in regards to Immigration

Dear World Pulse community

My name is Brooke Jordan and i currently live and go to school in Claremont, California. First i want to say what a true honor it is to share in this on line forum with so many powerful women from around the world. Thank you for your stories, your generosity and your courage!!

I am graduating from College in a few weeks. I realized that i have spent much of my College experience doing research on different topics and am now really wanting to step outside of the academic framework and understand issues and effective ways for social change from individuals and communities themselves.

For one of my classes, i am looking at immigration. Instead of continuing to read about immigration, i am seeking to get first hand experience or knowledge on the issue of immigration and effective ways social change can come about in regard to immigration and the way immigrants are treated in the U.S.

Brooke, how exciting that you will be graduating soon. One of our active members, Maria, had recently posted an article she had received from the United Farm Workers in regards to immigration reform. She could be someone you might be interested in connecting with (although she does not work in that field) -- her post can be found at:

Another way for you to generate discussion and debate about the issue would be to share your ideas and concerns by writing in your journal. This way, members can provide feedback to this issue and share their thoughts. You may also consider starting a group where you can build a powerful network bringing together PulseWire members with similar visions who want to share ideas or actions. With the group journal, you can brainstorm solutions, pose questions, test ideas and create a support network for your visions.

If there is anything further I can help you with, please let me know and I will try to steer you in the right direction. Best wishes with graduation,
PulseWire Community Director
