Need: Support Women Journalists on World Press Freedom Day

hed_ewire.gif

Sunday is World Press Freedom Day, but many women journalists around the world are still risking their lives to achieve press freedom.

Please help the International Women’s Media Foundation support press freedom worldwide. Sign our petition for the release of Roxana Saberi - http://www.iwmf.org/article.aspxid=844&c=pastletter&utm_source=ewire&utm..., an American journalist who has been sentenced to eight years in prison in Iran, and for Euna Lee and Laura Ling - http://www.iwmf.org/subcatdetail.aspxsc=letter&utm_source=ewire&utm_medi..., American journalists who have been detained in North Korea since March.

Liza Gross, interim executive director of the IWMF, will speak at a Press Freedom Day rally - http://www.rsf.org/article.php3?id_article=31094; in New York on Sunday at noon in front of the United Nations headquarters. Together with Reporters Without Borders, Gross will call for the release of Saberi, Lee and Ling.

Also, learn about the brave women journalists who have received IWMF Courage in Journalism Awards over the years for their persistent reporting, even amidst extreme danger, threats and persecution.

Join the IWMF's global network - http://www.iwmf.org/joinapplication.aspx?utm_source=ewire&utm_medium=ema..., furthering freedom of the press.
