Need: Funds required to pay the cost of 171 computers to be donated to grassroots NGOs/CBOs working on HIV/AIDS

GBS has recently provided 171 NGOs with IT training in collaboration with UNAIDS in 14 states of India.

They are doing very good work with absolute commitment on issues like HIV/AIDS, violence against women, trafficking, problems of migrant populations, water issues etc., but don't have access to computer and can't afford to have their own PCs.

Computer Aid International, U.K. has agreed on our request to donate 171 computers to us but they want us to pay shipping cost and other charges amounting to GBP 8,154 for 171 computers.

We, therefore, need a sum of GBP 8,154 to get the delivery of 171 computers and donate to 171 NGOs/CBOs in order to enhance their capacity to combat these problems.

Sending good thoughts

That must be so frustrating, to get such a great offer like that but to have that kind of roadblock thrown in your way. I don't have any resources to offer, but I'll keep my eyes out for organizations/individuals who might be able to help. I'm sending good thoughts and a little luck your way!

Possible lead

Dear Kusumji,

Namaste! It's wonderful to see your photo...:) I remember hearing from you that this ComputerAid offer could be a time-limited offer -- is this still open?

In terms of leads for you, I have had a braistorming with Cynthia Casas, PulseWire's director of Partnerships to see if we can think of any connections for you. We will send any leads/connections that emerge your way.

Hope all is well.
My best regards,
Ramya

Thank you very much Ramyaji,

Of course still it is open. I'll be looking for your suggestions very eagerly.

With love and regards,

Kusum

Hello Ramyaji,

It was nice to speak to you over telephone on that day. As we discussed over the issue of computers, I would like to let you know that we can make it in 3 phases i.e. 60, 60 and 51 in order to provide all the grassroots NGOs/CBOs with a PC. The cost of one PC (charges to be paid to Computer Aid International, London for shipping etc.)would be around GBP 48. We will welcome all kinds of contribution from all friends and supporters.

Looking for further suggestions from you in this regard,

with love,
Kusum
