Need: How does one set up an adult literacy programme?.

Does anyone have information or experience on how to set up adult literacy programmes?.

I have space and I find time on the weekends to teach then and I would like to start a programme to help Domestics in my community. I have noticed that in my community most domestic workers have their rights violated because they do not know any better about their rights and also they are disadvantaged because they cannot read or write and therefore feel that they cannot get any other jobs ( which the employer invariably takes advantage of). I would like to be able to empower both men and women Domestics with Knowledge and Literacy.

What I need help with is the how to: Tips on what works and what does not. Thank you all for taking time to read and to offer solutions or advice. XOXO

A couple people to connect with

Hi Lee,
I think it's great what you're setting out to do! A couple of people come to mind in the community here that you might connect with for ideas:
Rebecca in Uganda (https://worldpulse.com/node/70986)
Lin in Kenya (https://worldpulse.com/node/18739)
Neema in DRC (http://worldpulse.com/node/88301)

They would be a great resource as you start having conversations!
Best of luck, I look forward to seeing other people's comments here, and to seeing your project take off!

Thank you Scott!

Thank you very much Scott! I really appreciate it. Let me get in touch with the people you have referred me to.

I am for truth no matter who tells it. I am for Justice no matter who it is for or against.
I say I.

Any leads?

Hi again Lee,
Just wanted to check in to see if you've been in touch with those ladies or others here to kick off your project development. I know it can take a lot of work to bring the right pieces of information, and resources together... but you'll get there I'm sure!
