Intern Project (IP):

YAWI recognizes that while university students may have the desire to raise awareness about important causes, their academics, part-time work, and on-campus activities can make it difficult for students to intern intensively in a professional setting. The IP was created in March 2013 to give students the opportunity to work with an African NGO in a meaningful, but not time-consuming manner.

The expectations are simple: you must complete a minimum of two (2) advocacy/outreach initiatives and one (1) fundraising effort per semester. Advocacy efforts can be as simple as passing out flyers which highlight the work of YAWI or detail the empowerment of women in Kenya. Similarly, fundraising could include the conventional bake sale or car wash. We encourage you to use your imagination and to have fun with your initiatives!

If you’d like to apply to be a home-based intern with YAWI, please send your CV and a brief letter of motivation to our International Project Manager
