Offer: Free "Women, War and Peace" screening kits during October!
Today women are increasingly targeted during wartime and almost entirely shut out of peace talks.
This October, Peace is Loud asks: How can we build a whole peace when we exclude half of the population? October marks the 13th anniversary of UN Security Council Resolution 1325, the UN’s landmark commitment to women in conflict situations. Resolution 1325 promotes women’s equal participation in peace negotiations and safeguards women and children wherever conflict erupts. Resolution 1325 makes it clear that peace and equality between men and women are inextricably linked.
While progress has been made over the past 13 years, women still represent a tiny minority of negotiators and mediators involved in major peace processes, and funding for women’s issues in post-‐conflict countries remains minimal.
To celebrate the anniversary of Resolution 1325 and continue building a whole peace, Peace is Loud is providing the materials to screen the award-‐winning documentary series Women, War & Peace for free. Women, War & Peace is a five-‐part series that looks at war through women’s eyes. The films travel to Bosnia, Liberia, Afghanistan and Colombia to share the voices of women on the frontlines of peacebuilding. The series is now available in an international screening kit, which includes DVDs of the five films (each about an hour long) plus a discussion and resource guide. Best of all, each screening kit includes four language options: Arabic, English, French and Spanish. Peace Is Loud is offering Women, War & Peace screening kits and limited international shipping for free for October screenings.
Visit peaceisloud.org to learn more and request the films.
In addition, Peace is Loud can work with your organization to introduce the series to your staff, members and supporters. We can co-‐host online screenings or webinars to showcase the films and explain what is included in each screening kit, and we can directly field requests for screening kits from individual offices or chapters of your organization.
Peace is Loud would be happy to discuss how best to share Women, War & Peace in your community. Peace is Loud believes women’s mobilization in civil society is key to ending violence and conflict, and it is their hope that participating in screenings of Women, War & Peace will inspire viewers to raise their voices and become advocates for peace and justice.
If you proceed with this, please share your experience hosting a screening in your World Pulse journal!
