Need: Kisumu Children's Rescue Center for girls

Once completed, the Kisumu Children’s Rescue Center will provide safe housing, nourishment, health-care, education, much love, and even counseling for orphans and vulnerable children, with an emphasis on girls, as they are always most at risk. In this way, the project aims to restore children’s innate sense of belonging, self-confidence and love, and open them up to a world of opportunities. The center will house 20+ children throughout the year who’ve been orphaned by HIV/AIDS while proper alternative housing is secured for them. The impact of this is immeasurable as this Center will serve the entire community, and have a ripple effect for generations to come!

I hope you will see through my eyes the potential that lies dormant in the at risk youth of Kisumu, Kenya… these are future doctors, farmers, community leaders.

They are now seeds of untapped potential, and you and I are the showers of hope and generosity that will unlock that potential, turning victims into survivors and survivors into fruitful, thriving individuals that will give back to their communities just as they themselves have received.

100% of the tax deductible donations go toward construction.

This project aims to create a new model for assisting orphans and vulnerable children. Please check out our Facebook and Fundraising pages for more info!!
THANK YOU for making this dream a reality!

Done!

I am so thrilled to have this opportunity to support this project and your fellowship to Kenya. I know that it will be an experience that will last a lifetime. A dear dear friend lives in Kisumu and so this project is close to my heart. I can't wait for you to report from Kisumu about your experience. Big hug,
Janice

Karibu!

HI Sonia,
Thanks for your interest! Sure, I'd love to speak further about the project. At the moment, it's basically a house under construction and I work out of the clinic office of local non-profit, Volunteer Counseling and Testing center OLPS in Chiga. I did give a tour to some exchange students from Kalamazoo college so I'm sure it would be no problem to do the same. I am actively seeking donations now for the center which is the best way to help, everything we are doing is sourced on the ground, so 100% of donations go to the project and all labor and materials are sourced locally. We will soon begin tiling and painting. I hope to finish by the end of December which is when my stay in Kenya is up, though I would love to find a job and stay longer!
You can email me at valeriecamila@yahoo.com or camila@mamahope.org and we can arrange a meeting.
THank you, Asante sana!
