CREA is holding the 3rd Disability, Sexuality & Rights Institute from 4 November – 15 December 2013. This course would be conducted online over a 6 weeks period and requires a commitment of 6-10 hours per week. Deadline to apply: 30 September 2013.
About the Course
The Disability, Sexuality, and Rights Online Institute provides a study of theory and practice for disabled and non-disabled people working in areas such as development, health, sexuality, media, and rights. The aim is to create awareness about the intersection of disability and sexuality, and build a political perspective on disabled people's sexual rights. Participants develop their ability to work in inclusive and holistic ways that further human rights and social justice. CREA coordinated the first Disability, Sexuality, and Rights Online Institute in 2010.
Trainers on the course includes: Anita Ghai, Ph.D, Ekaete, a Senior Reader in Psychology, Jesus and Mary College, University of Delhi; Judith Umoh, a disability rights advocate & Executive Director, Family Centered Initiative for Challenged Persons (FACICP); and Janet Price, Co-editor Feminist Theory and the Body: A Reader
Selected applicants are expected to pay a registration fee of $60 (Sixty US Dollars) although a very limited number may be granted a fee waiver.
