Need: Focus Group Discussion Question

Honestly speaking can't explain how excited I am at the moment. It all started as a dream to make a girls dream come true and from a simple post posted here have received exciting feedback the the motivation to make my dream come true.

Thank you once again to Lea and those who have been sharing ideas, feedback, opinions in making sure that the project is sucessful. In deed this place is like a family to me by now thanks once again

After some discussion with some members online via inbox, it was suggested that needs assessment be done first before anything else. Earlier on had suggested the facebook as the most widely use social media platform be the tool to be used for the mentoring since many young people have facebook and can access it via their mobile devices.

All in all this Saturday together with the volunteers we will be working with focus group between the age of 10 years to 18 to try and find problems affecting girls in the rural setting. So once again I can back and ask
-What are some of the question that can be asked
-Apart from facebook anyone can suggest a tool we can use for the mentoring program keeping in mind the area is rural, girls maybe lack ICT skills among other
- Suggestions are welcomed before Saturday

Thanks

Potential questions

Because I believe we must start over with a new vision for our earth's survival, I believe we need to start with basic values statements.

What do you want YOUR world to look like?
How do you define the role of the human animal?
How is this different from the roles of the rest of creation?
What special roles do women fill in this vision?
What special roles do men fill in this vision?
How would you like to see partnerships between men and women structured?
How could these partnerships contribute to peace and security of all the earth?

I have taken part in strategic plans for several non-profit organizations. You are taking the right first step in this mentoring effort. Blessings to you in realizing that a vision without a plan is only a dream.

Hello, Helwa!

Hello, Dear Helwa!

Scott Beck has just asked me to reach out to you, as I've been a mentor for Voices of Our Future for 3 years and would be delighted to provide ongoing information and suggestions for you.

I've just returned from a business trip and catching my breath this morning, but let's start a direct dialogue: my email is sarahdianewhitten@gmail.com

If you'd like to start emailing me with specific questions, I'll get back to you with specific answers.

I've read your post, and I have lots of experience in empowering girls. My first suggestion might be to ask them these questions, if they seem appropriate:

1. What is my hope and vision for my life?
2. What gets in my way?
3. How can I take the first step toward getting beyond the things that get in my way?
4. Do I believe that I can begin to fulfill my hopes and dreams?

Than give them the loving encouragement to answer:
Yes, I can see (envision, imagine) myself fulfilling my hopes and dreams.
Yes, I can take the first step.
Yes, I can do this.
Yes, I am doing this.

That's very simplified, of course, but let me know if I can help in reaching out further.

I wish you comfort and joy, ongoing courage and strength.

- Sarah
