Offer: Improving Nutrition Outcomes Through Agricultural Interventions: Request for Letters of Enquiry - Deadline: June 7, 2013

"We are seeking proposals to build a consortium in Africa to optimize nutrition outcomes from investments in agriculture, working with or delivering through existing platforms developed by governments, community organizations, private sector or development programs.

We anticipate that the duration of this grant will be at least 5 years. We have a strong preference for the lead organization to be headquartered in Africa. However, we anticipate strong need for several other types of partners, most notably a research/evaluation partner(s) and multiple local partners across countries.

We would like to fund the consortium to work in Ethiopia, Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya, Mali, Burkina Faso, Ghana, and Nigeria, but we recognize that this spread and scale would challenge most organizations so we are open to concepts that cover a minimum of four of these countries.

We will consider regional or language-based consortia (for example, East or West Africa, anglophone or francophone countries). Collectively, the consortium must have strengths in program design, implementation, and rigorous monitoring and evaluation---with a strong focus on providing these services as technical assistance.

A Letter of Inquiry (LOI) in response to this Request should be submitted no later than 7 June 2013, 9:00am PST.
The Gates Foundation will evaluate the LOIs, and applicants who have projects of further interest to the Gates Foundation will be invited in July 2013 to submit a full proposal.

Due to expected high volumes, the Gates Foundation will not be able to provide individual feedback for LOIs not selected to submit full proposals.
